Celebration, Convocation, Community

On May 13, over 70 people joined the Hive Fund for a virtual event to celebrate the first year of our journey as a foundation and honor our inaugural group of grantee partners -- twelve organizations and their inspiring leaders at the center of the fight for climate and gender justice. Alongside music from Choklate and emcee DJ CarmenSpindiego, we heard from our grantee partners what it means to reimagine what’s possible, galvanize action, and make real change - locally, regionally and nationally.

This first grant cycle is just the beginning of the Hive Fund’s journey to elevate investment in essential yet under-resourced work for climate and gender justice. We invite our supporters to continue with us as we raise more money and more attention for the game-changing work these groups are doing across the South and beyond. Here are a few things you can do:

  • Connect with one of us to discuss partnering as a funder.

  • Directly support our grantee partners by donating to them, following them on social media or signing up for their mailing lists.

  • Share this study about racial gaps in philanthropic support with your philanthropic networks.

  • Sign up for our mailing list to stay in touch.

a call to connect.
a celebration.
a convocation.
a welcome to community.
we focus. hold space.
ground ourselves fully.
embrace the present
& honor our history.
we take this journey
step by step
breath by breath
& breathe it all in
simultaneously.

this is a collective.

a change is gonna come
with trust & solidarity
we started this journey
a lifetime ago
& now they hear us
our stories
& our heroes
framed just so
implausibilities
made possible
broken cycles
broken finally
we have a million
different ways
to say yes we can.

this is a collective.

we interrupt & we disrupt.
we learn to unlearn
what we’ve been told
we are not here
to make you feel
comfortable
we are not here
as part of the status quo
but we definitely exist
& we want to be heard
it has been hard
it has been a challenge
but together
we are powerful
radically healed
centered
& ready
for anything.
