Fall 2020 Newsletter: Letter from the Co-Directors
Dear Friends,
We celebrated our one-year “anniversary” as co-directors this month, in the midst of wildfires, hurricanes, uprisings, and attacks on our democratic systems. As we grapple with the impact of these events on the leaders and communities the Hive Fund supports, we are finding strength in the deep partnerships we have built over this past year.
Hive Fund grantee partners are doing incredible work, in solidarity with thousands of groups across the country, to advocate for racial justice and protect and expand an inclusive democracy, both critical for achieving deep and lasting climate solutions. We are working to support their safety and security in addition to their programs as they navigate this difficult moment.
We’re also finding hope in planning for the next year as we raise funds to support an expanding ecosystem of grantee advocates, activists and changemakers. Our fall docket will include long-term grants to resource groups in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and North Carolina, whose work will be critical no matter what the outcome of the November election.
We’d like to use our newsletters to connect you to the work and wisdom of our grantee partners, and to the community of learners we are building within philanthropy. In this issue, you’ll find our first Learning Lab, with some of our learnings and reflections on philanthropic practices that can help funders be partners for climate and racial justice.
We’d love to hear about what you are learning and parts of the newsletter that resonate with you. We welcome your thoughts and comments at info@hivefund.org.
