With the Inflation Reduction Act’s new climate funding programs rolling out at breakneck speed, funders and community groups alike are scrambling to understand the opportunity and what it will take to make good on the IRA’s promise of benefitting disadvantaged communities. We gathered grantee partners in Houston on February 3 to get started.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we spotlight some of the women leaders in the US South who are delivering clean energy and climate resilience in ways that build wealth and protect health in their communities; stopping the expansion of oil, gas, and other dirty energy industries in their backyards; and protecting democratic rights and holding government accountable.

Our fall 2022 grantmaking focuses on helping groups rise to both opportunities and challenges of the Inflation Reduction Act, and ensure that the promise of this historic climate legislation is realized in ways that move us closer to justice.

We’re excited to announce the award of multi-year grants to ten organizations in Houston working to meet community-identified needs of weatherized and energy-efficient housing, affordable renewable energy access, and clean and equitable mobility.

The Hive Fund celebrates its inclusion as one of 18 organizations receiving a Climate Justice Grant from the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) and #StartSmall, Jack Dorsey’s philanthropic initiative.

Hive Fund grantee partners continue to engage a record number of people in our democracy; elevate climate, racial, and gender justice issues to the top of policymakers’ agendas; and bring creativity, culture, joy, and power to growing social movements. We are in awe of their progress.

We’re thrilled to welcome 16 new grantee partners this winter who are continuing to strengthen our multi-racial democracy, organizing to stop new oil and gas facilities, and shaping new clean and equitable economies.

The Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice is pleased to be among the recipients of the Bezos Earth Fund’s most recent round of grant-making to advance climate justice in the US. The Hive Fund’s participatory grantmaking supports those most impacted by pollution and disinvestment, especially in the US South, where climate emissions are high and philanthropic and public investments are low.

Join the Hive Fund for an interactive exploration of how multiracial, multipronged, multi-solving approaches are being used in oil and gas country in Texas, and how they can inform funding strategies across the region.

In September 2019, the Hive Fund buzzed into being to super-charge progress toward climate, gender, and racial justice by resourcing groups led by and serving Black, brown, AAPI, and Indigenous women and others on the frontlines in the US South.
